Mark your calendar for our September social. We had so much fun at our last game night we’re doing it again! Thursday, September 25 at 5:00 will be a game night (bocce included) with burrito bar pot luck. It will be at Constance Ledna's  house 15444 Kent Dr.  

Please register and go to the volunteer sign-up to select your pot luck item!   See you there! 

Also please bring your items in a serving bowl and spoon!

Fellow SITD Member, please join us for our October Program Meeting.  

Our presenter is Honey Berg, a former educator and currently a Hospice Volunteer, trained Death Doula and one of the founders of Stepping Stones, a non-profit organization that supports people facing life threatening illnesses.  Their website is:  Steppingstonesadvocacy.org

 In today’s busy world we frequently put off doing things that we know we should do, but don’t seem essential at the moment. There are many simple things we can do to be organized in case of an emergency or serious/end-of life illness. 

Our presenter will share a toolkit her non-profit created to help you get organized now, and not wait until an emergency happens.  This will be a very focused talk about specific easy things we should all have in place.

The presentation will be held at the home of Denise Trani-Morris at 5:00 PM on October 9th and is open to the first 20 SITD members who sign up. There is no cost to participate, but please bring a beverage or appetizer to share.

For many years Sierra High School has supported its young mothers with items from their teen closet. SITD has supported this program thru donations given once a year at a fun evening when we get together at a members house to socialize, learn about the program, and donate both cute and practical items for their closet.  

Below is the list of items they have requested we give from. The club has $500 to spend and will get some of the practical items like thermometers so you can enjoy shopping for other suggestions on the list. If you can not join us on the 16th please bring your donation to the October meeting or call/message Philippa to arrange a pickup.

Come join the fun as we hand out goodies to trick-or-treaters at the best Halloween street party in Truckee! Last year we gave away over 750 (yes 750!) fortune cookies plus many bags of candy. Bring something to share and a bag of candy for the trick-or-treaters. Lots of laughter and fun! Spouses and friends are welcome. Costumes encouraged but optional.

Get ready for our cookies and cocktails social Sunday, November 9 at 3:00 at Shirley’s house. We will provide a signature cocktail and mocktail. You will bring 2 dozen cookies to taste and to exchange the remainder. We’ll also have a potluck.   Signup for appetizers and additional drink selections. Husbands and friends welcome!

Yes, it is time for the annual Toys for Tots Toy Drive.  We need volnteers to help with this annual activity.   First we need members to sign up for Box placement, monitoring and pick-up.   We also need volunteers to help sort the sorts at the end of the donation phase.    

Box/Barrel Monitor Role:  Pick up the box at Shirley Phelan's house from November 10th -14th.  Take to merchant.  You are respnsible to check the box once a week or more if full, take to the temporary storage.  The final day for pick-up is December 10 or the moring of December 11.   We encourage members to do at least 4 locations.  Perhaps partner up to share pick-ups.  The more volunteers the less number of locations!   (last year we had 55 locations!) Shirley will be contacting the box monitors for assignments. Please contact her with any questions at 415-823-5331.

Sorting Toys:  We need volunteers to sort the toys.  This is fun so please sign up for a slot to help.    The CHP will transport the toys to the old Middle School gym, 11603 Donner Pass Road.
