Happy April! This has been a very successful year for our club so far. Due to the hard work of our members, we were able to help six women pursue their educational and career goals via our Career Advancement Scholarship.
Thanks to our promotional efforts we had 18 applications. In addition, we have four "Live Your Dream" recipients who are now each eligible for a region level award of $3,000 or $5000. Our Scholarship Committee is currently hard at work reviewing applications for our high school scholarships for students from Truckee High School and Sierra High School. Please join us on Thursday, April 27th at our “Celebrating the Best for Women” event from 4:30 to 6:30 PM at the Glenshire Clubhouse as we honor these, and other, award recipients.

Aside from these impactful awards, we have also helped various programs in Truckee, including:

  1. Headwaters Science Institute, a local nonprofit with the mission to foster girls curiosity through science,
  2. Nine women through North Tahoe Truckee homeless services,
  3. New uniforms for girls in the Truckee High School marching band,
  4. Funds for educational materials for the Family Room at Sierra Community House,
  5. A new stove for Sierra Senior Services and,
  6. A laser cutting/engraver at Truckee Roundhouse, a non-profit makerspace.
You can see all our grants and touching "thank you" notes in our monthly correspondence report.

Now, we are gearing up for one of our two biggest fundraisers - the 48th annual Wine and Restaurant Faire at Coyote Moon on Saturday, June 10, 2023. If you would like to help please contact our chairs, Susan Horst or Marie Strassburger.

I know you have probably all seen our proxy forms which are available on our website, under “Member Happenings.“ You can submit the form online and this will help us ensure we always have a quorum at our business meetings.

Finally, if you are interested in selecting our board for next term (starting in June) please let me know by April 10. The Club will be voting for one member on our nominating committee at our next business meeting on April 13.

Once again, we should all be very proud of SITD's accomplishments!
