Happy spring! What a wonderful time for our club!
On March 14, we will be honoring our award and scholarship recipients, including, “Career, Advancement, Scholarship“ winners, “Live your Dream,“ and the "Violet Richardson" awardees for high school super volunteers. The keynote speaker is Kim Bateman, Dean of Sierra College/Tahoe Truckee. We will also be honoring our “Woman of the Year,” Megan Seifert, from Headwaters Science Institute. A lot of behind the scenes work goes into our Celebrating Best for Women event, from drafting the applications, promoting the scholarships and reviewing each application. Hats off to our committee members, including Phillipa Nigg, Nancy Wallis, Lynette Powell and Marion Thatch. And a special thank you to Joan Kreamer and Pam English for promoting and organizing our “Celebrating Best for Women” event. This year it will be held at the Glenshire Clubhouse on March 14, 5:45-7:30 p.m. Please try to join us.
Also, on March 2, Kathleen Raber is once again hosting the Teen Closet Baby Shower at her home from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. You can sign up on our website, www.sitd.info. Please bring an unwrapped gift and the items needed are listed on our website.
If you have been unable to make some of our business meetings, we now have them available via Zoom! Thank you to Katy Jones for setting this up. When you RSVP to the meeting, you will see the Zoom Business meeting link. Also, please remember to fill out a proxy form! Proxy forms are good for up to 180 days and allow us to ensure we have a quorum at our business meetings so we can vote on the important matters that come before the membership, including grant requests. To access the proxy form simply log onto our website, go to “Our Club,” then to “members only,” then to “Member Happenings.” The proxy form will be on the left.
We have been able to make several significant grants in our community to help women and girls in our community. Thank you to Charlene Simmons and the Grant Review Committee for their work in reviewing grant requests and making thoughtful recommendations.
