Shower Hosted by Kathleen Raber
Another successful year for our baby shower! I would like to thank everyone who was able to attend and or donate to this wonderful event. Inclement weather and all. We were able to donate wonderful quilts hand made by the Tahoe Donner Quilting Club, diapers, health and safety kits, clothing, books and toys and many more items.

Tehya, along with her co-worker, were able to join us this year to give us a good insight into how the STEPP program works and a little about the families they currently are working with. The STEPP program was initiated over 20 years ago by SITD to help teen mothers stay in school and graduate. The program is now run by the TTUSD and supported by SITD. Pregnant teens can attend Sierra High school and their children attend the day care located on site. The mothers get support, education about parenting, nutrition, etc. and get “rewards” for such activities as going to their pregnancy wellness appointments. With those “rewards” they can pick out items they need for their children. The teen closet is housed at Tahoe Forest Hospital and the items are also available to parents who get stuck in Truckee or have an emergency need. We all enjoyed appetizers, wine and much needed socializing.
Thank you, Kathleen Raber, Coordinator, and Lynette Hipkins, CIT
