February Program Meeting

The February Program Meeting, "Supporting the Basecamp," focused on organizations helping support the "Big Life" we all enjoy. Deidre Henderson, founder of our local chapter of Citizens Climate Lobby, gave a presentation focusing on building electrification and the initiatives underway and support already in place to help us, as a community, move our homes away from fossil fuel dependence.

Deidre provided a list of resources, below, for more information about the Citizens Climate Lobby and how to begin electrification at your home.

Deidre's presentation dovetailed perfectly with our second presenter, April Cole, the LibraryUp Campaign Director from the Friends of the Truckee Library. April spoke about the significance of libraries in her life and the importance of a thriving library to our community. She provided us with an update on the status of the new library initiative and a timeline for construction, groundbreaking to be in 2026. Both of these initiatives are almost entirely volunteer-staffed and offer many opportunities for involvement.

In addition, if any club members would like to support efforts to build a new library with a letter of endorsement or volunteer, please contact April directly at april@truckeefol.org. Letters of endorsement are especially important from residents who live in Placer County, as they are working to bring Placer on board with the project.
